Issam Youssef: The poem’s home

Issam Youssef gelooft dat talent belangrijk is, maar het moet worden ondersteund met kennis en schoonheid van de ziel en de liefde. Hij is daarom poëzie gaan schrijven en publiceerde al vier bundels in Syrië en Libanon. Zijn werk is bekroond met een gouden medaille in het tv-programma "Auf" op de Libanese OTV-zender. Issam ontvluchtte de oorlog in Syrië samen met zijn vrouw en zo kwam hij in Antwerpen terecht. Het gedicht gaat over het missen van thuis in de afwezigheid van poëzie.

مشتاق للسهرة بهاك البيت

و كل ليلي اعزم صحابي

يا ريت يوم ل سافرت ضبيت

مسكة الباب بشتطة غيابي

كنت كل ما اشتقت ل حبابي

بطلع بذاكرتي على السكيت

ببرم المسكة و بفتح غيابي

و بنطر قصيدي تدق ع بابي

The poem’s home

I miss the nights of that home

To invite my friends every night

I wish the day I left

That I packed the handle of the door along with my absence

Everytime I would miss my loved ones

I would walk silently to my memory

Hold the handle and open my absence

And wait for a poem to knock at my door
